Harrison Ford finally breaks silence on affair with Carrie Fisher revealed in her memoir

In her book The Princess Diarist, Fisher detailed how she and Ford had an affair on the set of 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford were always such a fascinating pair.

One, the daughter of Hollywood who became such an icon in her own right thanks to her open, witty, and frank nature. The other built a personality on silence; a man of gruff charisma who is so fascinating to the world precisely because he dares to share so little with it.

Fisher's last book before her death, a memoir about her time filming Star Wars entitled The Princess Diarist, offered quite the revelation: she and Ford had an affair on the set of 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

The subject was finally breached with Ford himself during an interview with GQ. The actor had little to say. It's unsurprising, considering his disdain for personal revelation was here coupled with the fact Fisher's loss must still be such a painful reality.

"It was strange. For me," he stated simply. He acknowledged that Fisher gave him advanced warning "to a degree", but that he hadn't yet read the book.

Elsewhere, Ford's interview carries on in his usual brusque and witty way. He tells his own side of the story of punching Ryan Gosling in the face on the set of Blade Runner 2049.

His version is, simply, that "Ryan Gosling's face was where it should not have been".
