LETTER : Can't live with them, can't live without them

PLEASE don't abolish the monarchy in Britain! Treasure your traditions but do so in a sensible manner. And have the courage to look at some successful, extremely popular, up-to-date monarchies on the Contin- ent. Study and analyse how modern, socially engaged, highly intelligent queens such as Margrethe of Denmark and Beatrix of the Netherlands function.Why not adapt your monarchy to a changed society instead of getting rid of it? But it is essential that modernisation takes place with common sense and style.
