YOUR article on serial monogamy was a bit thin on the ethics of relationships. Not wanting a life- long commitment with your partner implies a superficial consumerism. When things get tough and boring you just move on to the next one. You quote somebody saying that this kind of relationship indicates greater idealism. A strange concept in this context.

What kind of moral values do we pass on to our kids if we show them that love is permanent but the objects of our love vary all the time and that we don't bother to work on a relationship because it is much easier and more thrilling to get a new one? Admittedly it is easier to be self-centred and to do exactly what you want in every situation, if you have no ties whatsoever with family, partner, children or friends.
