Letter: Saving grace

Sir: Thank you, Hamish McRae ('One day, higher rates will be the good news', 3 February), from a pensioner who has been feeling pretty guilty at regretting the steadily declining hope of a holiday or getting the outside of the house painted because 'families with mortgages' need help more.

It was good to hear a voice raised for the savers at last.
