Letter: Rock of ages

From The Rev Paul Denyer

Sir: Who says the Rolling Stones are not the rebels they were? Whereas they once offended established authority with their long hair and irreverence, they now appear to be just as offensive to the gestapo of youth culture who imply that no one over 50 deserves a life ("Time to put ageing rockers out to grass?", 13 July).

One of the best things about last Tuesday night at Wembley Stadium was to be one of the 70,000 people enjoying themselves irrespective of age. The youth police have to recognise that they have now become the tyrants of the establishment and we take pleasure at their offence.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Denyer
