Sir: Trevor Phillips and others should recognise the world of difference between a racist insult such as "all black footballers look alike" and John Motson's self-deprecatory statement that he finds it "difficult" to distinguish between black players. Recognition of our inadequacies is a prerequisite to correcting them.
