Letter: Let it all hang out but be warned . . .

Sir: Victoria Ward ('My room's a mess, but my mind is tidy', 21 September) is an enviably busy person with, as she says, tidiness low on her list of priorities (in fact, reading between the lines, at the bottom). Which of her low- level priorities will be the next to go, assuming, as we must, that her life will hardly become less busy? Which will be the next logically incompatible activity to be jettisoned? Cleaning her teeth? Switching the telly off? Closing the windows?

As everyone who has responsibility for more than just themselves knows, untidiness is sloppy, unhygienic and dangerous.

Yours faithfully,

J. VICKERS
