Sir: May I remind your English readers that next Friday, 23 April, is St George's Day. I would like to ask them all to be proud to wear their national emblem of the red rose. We regularly see the Irish with their shamrocks and the Welsh with their daffodils, so come on, the English - wear your red rose.

Yours faithfully,

W. E. BRUM
