Letter: At last, the cure

Sir: I have been infested with "earworms" (Letters, 3,5,6,7 June) for years but recently I have found a cure. A particularly bad infestation, such as Barry Manilow's "Copa Cabana" can be eradicated by singing in your head something else which is simple, say from your childhood. Mine is "I Could Have Danced All Night", but anything you know very well will do. Having cured the symptoms it should be easy to stop taking the medicine.
