THE PHOTOGRAPH that accompanied the article 'Dover blanches at a shop on the cliff top' (19 September) implied that the National Trust is planning to build a Visitor Centre on an 'unsullied' stretch of the open cliff top.

This is not the case. The new Visitor Centre is to be located at Langdon Cliffs, which lies to the east of Dover directly above the Eastern Docks. It is a site which already contains buildings and extensive car parking facilities.
