A suburban cat which wandered on to a city-bound train in Dublin has been reunited with its owner through Twitter. The nameless cat boarded the train at Malahide and was later found wandering around Pearse Street station.

Staff on Iarnróid Éirean – Irish Rail – used CCTV footage to retrace the cat's pawsteps, and then launched an appeal for the owner to get in touch via Twitter. The owner, Eric Bieci, duly did. Staff at Pearse Street have renamed their surveillance cameras as "Cat-catching TV". The cat, which failed to purchase a ticket, elicited the affection of rail authorities, who have granted it a new pass so it can again travel for free. Who said cat crime doesn't pay?
