A Russian passenger plane made an emergency landing in Baku today after crew reportedly received a bomb threat.

Ural Airlines flight U61116 departed for Moscow Domodedovo airport from Bahrain at 11.30am, but diverted to the Azerbaijan capital instead, landing at 1.55pm local time.

Cabin crew discovered a note onboard warning of an explosive device, according to local media reports.

The jet was carrying 216 passengers, all of whom have now been safely evacuated.

“The crew received information about possible foreign objects onboard the aircraft, and requested a landing at the nearest airport to perform additional security checks,” a Ural Airlines spokesperson told Russia’s RBC radio.

A source at the airport told Reuters nothing suspicious had been found on the plane and that a passenger had been detained.
