Emirates Air first class suites: A bit of razzle dazzle for club international fliers
Squint at the advert for the new first-class private suites on Emirates Air, and you could be forgiven for thinking that the last 40 years never happened.
The high-sheen walnut, the gaudy orchid with its own spotlight, that blonde reclining on the bed dressed in clothes which look as though they’ve been disinterred from the Abigail’s Party props department, the gold leaf – it could be Paul Raymond’s bedroom, circa 1975. Even the computer looks like something from The Flintstones.
Emirates will be hoping its cabins will compete with its UAE rival Etihad, which won the glamorous World’s Best First-Class Airline Seats gong at the World Airline Awards in 2012. It features an in-built massage unit, among other delights.
Both are ridiculous, obviously, but still sure as heck beat flying economy.
