My kids are already over-excited about the new Indiana Jones movie. They're craving their own slice of swashbuckling adventure, giving me the perfect excuse to check out the new Latin American family holidays on offer.

First off is the Family Journeys brochure from Journey Latin America (020-8747 8315; www.journeylatinamerica.co.uk). The Mayas and More adventure is a must for Indiana fans, but I fancy the Mexican Ride: you get to visit the Teotihuacan ruins, take a boat through the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, zoom around Mexico City on a motorised scooter, and then get some serious relaxation time on the Caribbean coast.

There's also an exciting new Andean family trip to Ecuador from KE Adventure (01768 773966; www.keadventure.com). Explore the country on foot, horseback, train and mountain bike, staying in Amazon jungle lodges.

But if derring do just ain't your style, opt for five-star beachside fun instead. Captivating Cuba (08444 129917; www.captivatingcuba.com) has a tempting new offer: stay at the Superclubs Breezes Bella Costa in Varadero to go on adventurous excursions and swim with dolphins. With supervised kids' programmes and an endless beach upon which to sip cocktails, it offers just the kind of action-packed adventure I'm after.
