Gadgets, home appliances and everything else the tech-savvy consumer might dream about are being displayed at an event in Hong Kong this month that organizers boast is the largest electronics fair in the world.

The autumn edition of Hong Kong Electronics Fair ( http://www.hktdc.com) will run from October 13-16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and has lined up displays from an estimated 2,800 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions.

Organized by the government-sponsored Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, the event taps in to international advances in electronics as well as the factories just over the border in the Pearl River Delta region of China - which markets itself as the "factory of the world.''

To that end, exhibits will feature the latest in audio-visual products, vehicle electronics and navigation systems, home appliances and telecommunications

"Now in the 30th edition, the Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) strives to widen its variety, depth, and breadth of exhibits this year. New elements will include the launch of a Green Electronics Square, showcasing products that are driven by environmental-friendly manufacturing process, design or functions, plus a line-up of the hottest electronics gadgets such as Android, tablets, eReaders, as well as solar photovoltaic products and latest display technologies at electronicAsia," said Benjamin Chau, deputy executive director of the HKTDC, in a press release announcing the event.

eElectronicAsia will showcase the "newest products in components and assemblies, together with solar photovoltaic and display technologies from across the world," according to organizers. For the frist time, that event has attracted companies from Italy, Ireland and Japan.

More than 1,200 international buyers attended the Spring Edition of the fair with 64 percent reporting they had placed orders during the course of their visits, according to the HKTBC.

Due to increased demand, the HKTDC last year launched an iPhone app for applications for the fair and for general information. It can be reached via: www.hktdc.com/mobile
