Manny Pacquiao has claimed he has no interest in the upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, and has warned fans it will be a “very boring” evening, as he angles for his own rematch with the undefeated American.

Pacquaio, 38, is currently preparing for his WBO welterweight championship fight against Jeff Horn, and took time out of his training camp to discuss the Las Vegas super fight.

The contest, which will be staged at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26, looks set to become the most lucrative fight in the history of boxing, but Pacquaio has told fans that it will likely be a “boring” affair.

“McGregor has no chance in this fight. In fact, it could be very boring,” Pacquaio told Yahoo Sports.

“There is no way he will be able to land a meaningful punch on Floyd. How could he? He has no professional experience in boxing.

“The real fight and the best fight is [Gennady] Golovkin versus Canelo [Alvarez]. The best versus the best. That's the fight I will be watching.”

Pacquaio fought Mayweather himself in May 2015, in an eagerly awaited welterweight showdown that was dubbed ‘The Fight of the Century’ by critics.

However, the fight ultimately proved to be a disappointment, with Mayweather adopting extremely defensive tactics and Pacquiao struggling to land a punch on the American. Mayweather won via a 12-round unanimous decision, with the contest being relabelled as ‘Better Never than Late’.

Pacquiao, an 11-time world champion, has beaten Timothy Bradley and Jessie Vargas since that defeat and hopes that a victory over Horn could lead to a lucrative rematch with Mayweather.

Mayweather v McGregor: Tale of the tape

“If there's a chance, why not? I'm willing,” Pacquiao said of a potential rematch with Mayweather.

“But let's focus first for this fight. We don't want to underestimate ... Horn, thinking about another fight. This fight is not done yet.

“I know my body. I'm ready. I'm not underestimating (Horn). I'm not taking him lightly. I'm working hard.”

“Manny is in a must-win situation. He wants a rematch with Mayweather,” added his long-term trainer Freddie Roach.

“With Mayweather you have to look good against an opponent, you have to be impressive.”

Roach also admitted that Pacquaio’s career could be brought to a premature end if he suffers a shock defeat to Horn, a 29-year-old with a professional record of 16-0-1.

“If he struggles in this fight, it could be over,” Roach said. “And depending on how he lost, I would probably encourage him to retire.

“But I expect Manny's best in this fight. I am looking for a big win here. We want to go on to bigger and better things.”
