No drugs in Montcourt's body say police

Medical tests did not detect the presence of any drugs in the body of French tennis player Mathieu Montcourt who died on Tuesday at the age of 24, a police source said today.

Preliminary results of the autopsy showed on Wednesday that Montcourt suffered a heart attack but further biological tests were carried out.

Montcourt was found outside his flat near Paris at about 1.00 a.m. after spending the evening at the home of Patrice Dominguez, technical director of the French Tennis Federation.

The player, who was 119 in the ATP world rankings, had just begun a five-week ban for gambling on other players matches, although he was cleared of influencing the outcome of any the matches. He had also been fined $12,000 for the offence.
