Sad summer

Sir: What a marvellous summer supporters of English cricket have had. Starting with our pathetic performance in the World Cup, followed by defeat from the Kiwis. Then we had the deplorable example set by the rulers of English cricket finding that the game had not been brought into disrepute by Hampshire and Derbyshire and the final disaster - the sacking of Trueman and Bailey.

Well, next year cannot be worse.
