SOUTH AFRICA were beaten by Australia in yesterday's one-day international in Cape Town despite a promising start towards a target of 243 by Andrew Hudson and Hansie Cronje. The turning point was Shane Warne's introduction to the bowling attack; Warne saw off Hudson and Cronje, finishing with 3 for 31.

ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL (Cape Town): Australia 242 for 6 (M Taylor 63, M Waugh 71; C Matthews). South Africa 206 for 5 (A Hudson 62). Australia won by 36 runs.
