Rugby World Cup 2019 in numbers

England defeated Australia in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in Japan and will now face either New Zealand or Ireland in the last four.

England broke through after 18 minutes when they stretched Australia, Farrell's pass found flanker Tom Curry and he sent Jonny May over to score.

Farrell converted from the touchline, then Slade set off on a run after intercepting possession inside his own half, kicked ahead and May finished off for his second try In three minutes, with Farrell's conversion opening up a 14-3 lead.

England were caught cold at the start of the second half. Barely three minutes had gone when the Wallabies attacked from deep, Petaia found wing Marika Koroibete with a delightful inside ball and he finished superbly from distance.

But Kyle Sinckler quickly scored to restore England’s advantage and they added a fourth try late on when Anthony Watson intercepted to score. Here are our player ratings:
