RACING: The end for Destiny
Moments after winning at Nottingham yesterday, Eastern Destiny, a 17-year-old, collapsed and died on his way to the winner's enclosure.
The grey, trained near Denbigh, Clwyd, had gone clear from the final fence to register, at odds of 6-1, his 12th victory in hunter steeplechases.
Anthony Griffiths, his rider, paying tribute to Eastern Destiny, said: "He has died doing something he loved. He did it really well and he never gave any indication anything was wrong."
