Michael Roberts took his season's total of winners to 190 with a 959-1 treble at Pontefract yesterday. He now has a lead of 30 over the current champion jockey, Pat Eddery. Roberts was successful for three different trainers, with Branston Abby (Mark Johnston), Aradanza (Mick Channon) and Good For The Roses (Matt McCormack).

A British double-century appears certain for the 11-times South African champion. Roberts said: 'I should get to 200 with a bit of luck, especially as Alec Stewart and Clive Brittain have got plenty of ammunition left between them. To be honest, I'll be shattered if I don't make it.'

Trainer Jack Berry had a 152-1 double at Warwick yesterday to complete his third consecutive century of winners.
