TENBY and Armiger, who head the ante-post betting for the Derby, are among the entries for next month's two principal meetings at Chester and York. Each is engaged in the Chester Vase on 4 May and the Dante Stakes at York on 12 May, recognised trials for Epsom.

Henry Cecil, who trains Tenby and Armiger, has also entered two other Derby possibles for the events. Commander In Chief is among the 36 in the Vase, and Placerville is one of 29 acceptors for the Dante. All four horses are owned by Khalid Abdulla.

Tenby, as low as 4-1 for the Derby, may well run in a classic trial at Sandown this Saturday.

At Gowran Park yesterday, Advocat, a Derby long-shot, gave Mick Kinane his first winner with his first ride in Ireland since returning from Hong Kong. The colt, trained by John Oxx, carries the colours of Sheikh Mohammed.
