Tonia Couch plans to continue diving after finishing 12th in the women's 10 metres platform final won by 15-year-old Ren Qian.

Ren won China's sixth gold medal from seven events at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre - gold for Britain's Jack Laugher and Chris Mears in the 3m synchronised springboard is the exception - and silver went to her 17-year-old team-mate Si Yajie. Canada's Meaghan Benfeito took bronze.

Couch finished 12th and last in the final, after progressing from Wednesday's preliminary rounds and Thursday morning's semi-finals, with 323.70 points. Ren won with 439.25.

Couch now plans to cheer on Tom Daley, whose campaign in the corresponding men's event begins on Friday, with the final on Saturday.

Daley won bronze at London 2012 and is targeting gold this time around.

Couch finished fifth with Lois Toulson in the synchronised event and was disappointed with her display, having won European silver in London in May.

The 27-year-old from Plymouth said: "I'm getting old and it's getting harder, but fingers crossed I keep my body together for the synchro in a few years' time.

"I don't think that's the end of me just yet. I had the time of my life this last couple of weeks and it's sad it's over.

"I've had a fantastic time (this year). It's a shame it's not finished on a high.

"I'm a little bit gutted. My aim was to make it into the final and just to relax and have fun.

"I gave so much to my synchro, I couldn't get as much buzz from today. It was a bit flat."
