Leading speedway teams will race in a new Elite League next season after track bosses voted to launch a three-tier system. The decision to go ahead with plans for three divisions - the Elite League, Premier League and Conference League - was made at this week's general council of the British Promoters' Association. It is hoped that the move to three divisions will lead to 40 tracks staging League racing in 1997.
