Motorcycling: Spectators on probation at Le Mans
Having already relinquished its grand prix because of restrictions on tobacco advertising, France may also lose the Le Mans 24-hour motorcycle race unless spectators behave themselves next month. Nine bikers were killed in crashes outside the circuit last year. 'The 24 hours of motorcycling will not become the 24 hours of beer drinking,' warned Daniel Constantin, the government prefect for the Sarthe region.
