Martin returns after horrific crash

Markko Martin will compete in next week's Finland Rally despite being hospitalised after a horrific accident in Argentina.

The Estonian rolled his Ford at high speed two weeks ago, writing-off the car and leaving himself with dizzy spells. Martin and his British co-driver, Michael Park, have been given the all-clear to compete in Finland, although they will miss a warm-up event due to their injuries.

Martin was due to compete in the Pirelli Rally this weekend to acclimatise to conditions in Finland but doctors have advised him to rest. The young Ford driver Janne Tuohino takes his place.

Meanwhile, Jimmy McRae will again be the most famous of his family to compete in the Wales Rally GB in September after securing the entry his world champion son, Colin, could not.

Jimmy is used to being the centre of attention on Britain's round of the world championship having won the event five times, his last coming in 1988.

But in recent years he has played second fiddle to Colin, who continued his father's success and won the rally three times, including his world championship year of 1995. However, Colin is almost certain not to make the starting ramp for this year's rally after losing his works drive and struggling to line up a privateer run. That will leave dad Jimmy and brother Alister to fly the McRae flag.
