Llansantffraid win Welsh Cup
Llansantffraid took the Welsh Cup back to their Powys village (population 954) after a penalty shoot-out victory over the full-time professionals of Barry Town in yesterday's final at Cardiff Arms Park.
The Saints goalkeeper, Andy Mulliner, saved two spot kicks in his side's 3-2 shoot-out win over the League of Wales champions, who will play in next season's Uefa Cup while Llansantffraid enter the Cup-Winners' Cup.
Barry were behind three times in a thrilling final: Tommy Morgan, Gary Evans and Chris Whelan were the Saints' scorers but Barry hit back each time through Gary Lloyd, a Mike Brown own goal and Tony Bird, who struck two minutes from the end of extra time to set up the shoot-out.
