2.00: 16-1 is available about her this morning, but a bold run looks guaranteed from DIVINE MISS-P. Well drawn in 15 and well treated on what she showed last summer, this speedy filly dead-heated at Bath last week, not reproducing her best but giving every encouragement that it was just around the corner. She was caught only on the post.

2.30: The Group 3 Duke Of York Stakes proved too stiff a task for the inexperienced GUINEA HUNTER last time, but he was still able to show plenty of dash in that grade and is likely to prove too speedy for today's rivals, most of whom are much more exposed. That last remark does not apply to the well-bred Threat, while Sunley Sense would be a danger if not rearing in the stalls.

3.00: SWALLOW FLIGHT fully deserves to be clear favourite after his last-gasp triumph in another valuable event, at York, on his handicap debut. Runner-up Mayaro Bay has boosted the form, yet his York conqueror has gone up just 3lb. That was over seven furlongs, but his close third in a Newmarket maiden earlier this month showed that Swallow Flight has no difficulties in staying a mile. A low draw should help him negotiate the bend here, whereas dangers Hoh Steamer, Date and Mukasol all have high draws. There are stamina doubts about Kaibo.

3.00: The booking of Richard Quinn points strongly to Lady Herries' former invalid STRAZO, who has plummeted in the handicap since his peak in late 1997 but hinted at a return to form when down the field behind Tertium on his reappearance.

3.35: KALANISI had the stamp of a useful performer when trouncing three decent rivals at Newmarket and his credentials have a sounder look than those of the much-vaunted Killer Instinct.

4.10: A useful staying prospect for Dick Hern two seasons ago, ROYAL CASTLE ran the race of his life but just failed to last home when fifth in the hotly-contested Chester Cup. He looks ready to end a lengthy losing spell over this more suitable shorter trip.

4.40: After a string of creditable placed efforts in handicaps, EASTER OGIL has surely now been dropped to a winning mark. His third of 23 at Kempton in April showed that he can still reproduce his best and there have been excuses since. In the hands of the champion jockey, he can take care of Harmonic Way and Magic Rainbow.

3.15: It is difficult to summon great enthusiasm for anything in a tricky race, but EMPIRE PARK looked as though his turn was imminent when eighth to Swift at York, and blinkers could be the catalyst that sparks his return to winning form with the talented Piere Strydom aboard.

3.50: MUTAFAWEQ may have let down favourite backers on his debut last season, but he made up for that in style when he romped away from Biennale on his next start. There is a suspicion this trip will be his minimum, and his performance here should decide whether he goes for the St James's Palace Stakes, over a mile, or ten-furlong Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.

4.25: The veteran LAGO DI VARANO has his quirks but is smart on his day. He found 7f too far at Catterick last week, but looks nicely boxed to produce his familiar late surge over this more suitable trip.
