Harrison suspended

David Harrison left the Jockey Club's Portman Square headquarters a disappointed man yesterday after the Club's disciplinary committee had banned him for 10 days for his third careless-riding offence of the 1994 Flat season.

The suspension, from 12 to 24 January, was for not taking reasonable steps to avoid interference on Kaafih Homm at Lingfield on 20 December.

Harrison, whose offences during 1994 have lost him 26 days riding, said: "It's very harsh. I thought I would be cleared but the stewards did not have the correct camera angle of the incident so they were guessing on the side-on view."

The committee later cleared the trainer Lynda Ramsden and her jockey, Russ Garritty, of the charge of stopping the horse Top Cees in a race at Edinburgh last month. It was Mrs Ramsden's first appearance on such a charge. "We are disappointed that this has ever come to this and that we were ever here in the first place," Mrs Ramsden said. "We've both felt innocent, but it's been a very worrying time and an expensive day out."
