Next year's Solheim Cup at Loch Lomond could be moved forward from October to try and ensure coverage on BBC television and better weather conditions.

Tim Howland, chief executive of the Ladies' European Tour, and Ty Votaw, the commissioner of the LPGA Tour in America, are currently discussing a change which should see the event between the top women in Europe and America take place earlier in the year, with late August the favourite.

Concern over the possibility of a poor weather had already led to a reduction in the number of matches - the likelihood now is a return to Ryder Cup format - while a clash with the World Matchplay Championship had ruled out the possibility of live coverage on the BBC.
