Wigan kept the pressure on Bradford yesterday with a 30-22 win at Castleford. Adrian Lamb, Kris Radlinski and Steve Renouf set the visitors off with Jonathan Roper replying. The Warriors took charge in the second half when two tries from Paul Johnson and Gary Connolly increased the lead to 26-8. The Tigers reduced it with Chris Charles and Mark Lennon tries. Wigan made it safe when Brian Carney went over, and a try by Michael Smith four minutes later did not save the Tigers.

Hull secured a top-three finish with a 40-8 win over Salford. Steve Prescott kicked five penaties, while Tony Smith ran in two tries for the hosts who also saw Tony Grimaldi, Matt Crowther, Paul Cooke, David Maiden and Lee Jackson go over. Stuart Littler got Salford's consolation try.
