"I've played my whole career with him so it's really weird without him," Cunningham said. "He's been a great role model and, in my view, could have done another couple of years if he had wanted to."

Joynt, a second-row forward, helped Saints to four Challenge Cup and four Grand Final winners' medals, as well as victory in the 2001 World Club Challenge. He scored 121 tries for the club and won 25 caps for Great Britain, six for England and five for Ireland. As well as his years of service at Saints, he also performed with distinction for Oldham and the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League in Australia.

Bradford will miss their full-back Michael Withers and the centre Shontayne Hape for tomorrow's visit of Wakefield, while their new signing Ryan Hudson is suspended pending the outcome of a drugs investigation. The former Castleford prop Andy Lynch and Australian second-rower Brad Meyers will play. Wakefield lack Rob Spicer, Duncan Macgillivray and Sid Domic but include Julian O'Neill, Andy Kirk, Sam Obst and Kevin King in a 20-man squad.

London Broncos, who entertain Warrington tomorrow, will be without Lee Sanderson, Francis Stephenson and Dave Highton while Danny Williams is suspended. The coach Tony Rea includes 10 other newcomers in a 20-strong squad.

Warrington, without Daryl Cardiss and Chris Bridge, give debuts to Martin Gleeson and Toa Kohe-Love in the centres, and the loose forward Logan Swann.
