Warrington marked coach Darryl Van de Velde's last game in charge with a 19-18 win in a fiery Super League encounter with relegation-threatened Wakefield at Belle Vue.

The game, which resulted in a 10th straight defeat for Wakefield, erupted in the 54th minute when a near 26-man brawl resulted in three players – Wakefield's Ben Westwood and Toa Kohe-Love and Alan Hunte of Wakefield – being sent to the sin-bin.

Two minutes later former Wakefield prop Martin Masella and Paul March traded punches toe-to-toe, before Tawera Nikau was placed on report for a high shot in the 65th minute.

Leigh's coach Paul Terzis is the new favourite to replace Van de Velde.
