Zara Phillips on Toytown and William Fox-Pitt on Tamarillo, the partnerships who filled the top two places in last year's European Eventing Championships at Blenheim, are among the initial trio named for the British squad for this year's World Equestrian Games at Aachen in Germany. They are joined by Mary King on Call Again Cavalier, who was fourth at Burghley.

The announcement will suit Phillips, the 24-year-old daughter of the Princess Royal, who can now make her own preparations for Aachen without having to prove her worth to the selectors.
