Fury went from boxer to box office singing the all-time Don McLean classic

Tyson Fury led a bizarre, extraordinary rendition of Don McLean's classic hit American Pie in the press room after getting up off the canvas twice to secure a controversial draw with Deontay Wilder.

The self-styled 'Gypsy King' completed a remarkable comeback from depression and drug abuse to better the American heavyweight for much of this bout, but two late knock-downs swayed the fight back in Wilder's favour to produce a rare drawn bout.

Despite feeling a little disrespected by pundits, Fury felt he had claimed a moral victory after being written off by so many onlookers and celebrated by belting out American Pie in the Staples Center's press room.

“I’ve had three fights in five years," he would add.

"But like I said, everyone said I had fought nobody and that Wilder would knock me out in a round. But who did I fight to prepare for Klitschko? I always rise to the occasion.

“I’m not happy with the draw but I’m a realist. I’m not going to cry over spilt milk. Both men got out the ring healthy and we go back to our families. We’re behemoths of men and anything can happen in there. I should have won but I’m not going to complain.

"He’s a great fighting man and I respect him,” Fury said of Wilder.

“I said in the build-up, Deontay Wilder make no mistake about it, is the biggest puncher in heavyweight history. He's a fearsome puncher. But I have a fighting spirit and a fighting heart.”
