Usain Bolt has confirmed that he will be heading to Manchester this week to compete in his first race on British soil since his triple gold medal-winning feats at the Beijing Olympics.

The Jamaican's appearance in the Great Manchester 150 metre street race on Sunday had been in doubt after he crashed and overturned his BMW M3 a fortnight ago. He injured his left foot stepping on thorns as he escaped the wreckage and had minor surgery to remove them last week.

Bolt has been drawn in the first of two heats.
