Chelsea could wrap up a £20m deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle as early as this week according to reports.

It's claimed that the reigning Champions League holders are set to meet officials of the German club in the coming days in a bid to ensure the 22-year-old is turning out at Stamford Bridge next season.

Leverkusen turned down bids of £16m and £18m last summer, but are now ready to relinquish and allow the Germany international to move on.

The regular member of Joachim Löw's national team has the ability to play as a central striker or our wide, adding options to Chelsea's already impressive offensive armoury of Demba Ba, Fernando Torres, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar.

Some reports suggest Schurrle, who started his career at Mainz 05 before moving to Leverkusen in 2011, is keen on a deal and has already agreed a five-year deal in principal.

It has been mooted that any move could see winger Kevin de Bruyne heading in the opposite direction, possibly on loan.
