Unai Emery: Arsenal are closing the gap against Liverpool in performance

Arsenal could lose a top academy prospect, with both Juventus and AC Milan monitoring 17-year-old forward Sam Greenwood.

The Italian clubs’ scouts were impressed by Greenwood’s performances during the Under-17 European Championships this summer.

Greenwood scored three goals in three games during the tournament in May. Born in Sunderland, he is a right-sided forward who moved to Arsenal in 2018.

And The Sun now report that both Juventus and AC Milan hold serious interest in the youngster, while a number of German clubs are also hovering.

Should Juventus win the race for the starlet, who scored 10 goals in 21 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League last season, it will not be the first time they have lured a young Arsenal player away from London.

Stephy Mavididi signed for the Italian champions last summer, and made his Serie A debut in April.

Aaron Ramsey has, of course, also made the move to Turin this summer, though has not yet played for Juventus since joining on a free.

The midfielder pulled out of the Wales squad this week as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
