Eric Dier wary of another Tottenham end-of-season capitulation after West Ham defeat

The loss has seemingly handed Chelsea the Premier League title

Eric Dier is wary of another end-of-season capitulation after Tottenham’s defeat to West Ham on Friday night all-but handed Chelsea the Premier League title.

Spurs missed the chance to put some real pressure on the Blues, with a victory at the London Stadium seeing the gap between the London rivals cut to one point.

However, a Chelsea win against Middlesbrough on Monday night will put them seven points ahead and with the knowledge that one more win would guarantee them a fifth Premier League crown.

It was a draw with Chelsea last season which confirmed Leicester City as champions before they lost their final two games of the season to allow Arsenal to overtake them on the final day of the season.

While the Gunners cannot repeat that feat this time, Dier knows Tottenham must banish the disappointment immediately or lose their grip on second place.

"Our aim was to win every game until the end of the season, that's gone now and from Monday we'll be ready to go again," he told the club website.

"Nothing changes. We will try to finish strongly and after the way we finished last season, we want to put that right this season.

"We need to bounce back and finish the season strongly."

Manuel Lanzini's 65th-minute strike was enough to sink Spurs at the London Stadium, after Hammers keeper Adrian had denied Harry Kane and Dier in the first half.

"We had a few chances all at once in the first half, the keeper made a couple of good saves but after that we didn't create anything really and ended up conceding a very sloppy goal and after that, it was difficult," added Dier.

"I think we approached the game well, we just lacked a bit of intensity and decisiveness at times and we didn't create enough chances for the possession we had."
