Shinji Kagawa voices his frustration at lack of playing time at Manchester United under David Moyes

Midfielder has only featured in seven minutes for United this season

Shinji Kagawa has spoken of his frustration at his lack of playing time at Manchester United this season under new manager David Moyes.

The Japan midfielder has only featured for Moyes’ side in a seven-minute Community Shield cameo, and was an unused substitute in United’s opening two Premier League fixtures, before being left out of the squad altogether for the 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.

“Please ask David Moyes why I'm not in the [Manchester United] side,” the 24-year-old told reporters after scoring for Japan in their 3-1 friendly win over Ghana on Tuesday.

“It's hard not playing regularly. Some days the frustration is worse than others; it comes in waves. So it's nice to come back to Japan and get to play, and to score felt good.

“It is frustrating not playing but to score a goal like that [against Ghana] gives me confidence. Hopefully I can take that back to my club with me and things will improve,” he added.

“So it's nice to come back to Japan and get to play, and to score felt good.

“I just have to keep working hard and keep pushing for my chance. When I get back it will be a challenge to get into the team.

“When I get back to my club I have to wait for my chance in the Champions League and the Premier League. I'm sure my chance will come.”

Kagawa made 26 appearances in all competitions for United under Sir Alex Ferguson last season, scoring six goals. He joined the team from German side Borussia Dortmund for an initial £12m last June.
