Manchester United news: Paul Pogba says he 'feels very good' and could make debut against Southampton

Paul Pogba has appeared to declare himself fit for Manchester United’s match against Southampton on Friday night with the France international awaiting his second debut since re-joining the club.

The 23-year-old signed for United from Juventus this summer for a world-record £89m transfer fee but insists he does “not even think” about the pressures that come with being the subject of such an inflated figure.

Pogba missed out on the opening weekend victory against Bournemouth through suspension but is now eligible to play for Jose Mourinho’s side once the United backroom team consider him fit enough.

“You have to ask the manager, but I feel very good and have been training for 10 days. I am okay,” the midfielder told the Manchester Evening News.

“I am quite used to this. I played the World Cup two years ago when at Juve and three years ago I was at the U20 World Cup as well. So I am okay. It is about your body and I have been training on my holidays.”

Pogba insists he is unfazed by the nature of his transfer to Old Trafford and is ready to live up to his billing as the most expensive player in world football after overtaking Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in the value charts.

He said: “I am just happy to play football, I don't even think about it.

“My ambition is always be the the No 1 and be the best. So the objective is to win the league. We want to go back to the Champions League because that is where we belong.”
