Jamie Vardy could be suspended for more than one of Leicester's remaining five Premier League games due to his attack on referee Jonathan Moss.

The England striker was shown a second yellow card for simulation during Leicester's 2-2 draw with West Ham at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Vardy was incensed at the decision that led to his sending off and berated Moss. The Leicester player pointed his finger in the face of the official and is also alleged to have sworn at him.

Vardy is certain to miss Leicester's next game, against Swansea on Sunday, but the suspension could be extended should Moss include the incident in his match report and the FA investigate.

Leicester's next match after Swansea is away at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

Earlier this season Chelsea striker Diego Costa was given an additional one match suspension after admitting to a charge of improper conduct relating to his reaction to a sending off. The Spaniard was shown a red card in Chelsea's FA Cup tie with Everton which led to him protesting in the face of referee Michael Oliver and refusing to leave the field immediately.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri defended Vardy over the red card, saying: "He never dives. Always he goes very fast and at this speed if you touch a little [the player goes down]."
