The man who signed David Beckham to LA Galaxy has said the England midfielder can expect a rude welcome when he returns to the MLS.

Former Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas, the man behind the $250m deal that brought the then Real Madrid star to America, has predicted Beckham will be booed by fans angry at his decision to extend his stay at AC Milan.

"He'll get booed and it's of his own making," Lalas told BBC Sport.

"If he comes back this summer, as has been reported, I'm sure he'll do everything he can to help the team on the field.

"But I'm also sure there is something to be said for having players on your team who want to be there. I don't think that's too much to ask."

Beckham secured a deal last week that will see him share his time between AC Milan and LA Galaxy. The England midfielder originally moved to Italy on a short term loan deal but made it clear he wished to extend his time there, saying his experience with the Rosseneri was 'a dream'.

It is understood that Beckham is part financing the deal.
