Fredrik Ljungberg is back in the Sweden squad for next week's Euro 2004 qualifier against Hungary.

The Arsenal midfielder, who missed Sweden's goalless draw against Latvia in their opening qualifier last month, has made an impressive return following a hip operation in the summer, scoring twice in three games since making his first appearance of the season against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions' League a fortnight ago. The 25-year-old is joined in the 21-man squad by another recalled player, the FC Copenhagen striker Jorgen Pettersson.

The Sweden Under-21 goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson and Orgryte's veteran keeper, Dick Last, 33, have been drafted in to replace injury victims Magnus Hedman, of Celtic, and FC Copenhagen's Magnus Kihlstedt.

The big surprise is the inclusion of the Orgryte midfielder Martin Ulander. The 26-year-old has one full cap to his name and represented the Under-21 side nine times. The Swedes host Hungary on 12 October and then take on Portugal in a friendly four days later.

SWEDISH SQUAD (v Hungary, 12 October): Isaksson (Djurgarden), Last (Orgryte); Antonelius (FC Copenhagen), Jakobsson (Hansa Rostock), Johansson (Blackburn), Mellberg (Aston Villa), M Svensson (Southampton), Edman (Heerenveen); Ulander (Orgryte), Alexandersson (Everton), Jonson (Brondby), Kallstrom (Djurgarden), Linderoth (Everton), A Svensson (Southampton), M Svensson (Halmstad), Lantz (Hansa Rostock), Andersson (AIK Solna); Ljungberg (Arsenal), Allback (Aston Villa), Ibrahimovic (Ajax), Pettersson (FC Copenhagen).
