The Wolves manager Dave Jones has made no apologies for substituting his captain Paul Ince during their frustrating goalless draw with Watford at Molineux on Tuesday.

The former England international played less than an hour of the First Division game before being replaced by Keith Andrews. Ince's demeanour confirmed it was only his pride which was hurt, and Jones revealed afterwards: "He didn't want to come off, but why drain the batteries completely? He has been saying that he has not been used to playing as many games as this over the years and we have had a heavy programme."

Nigel Worthington was left wondering how his side left Priestfield empty-handed after Norwich City saw an injury-time equaliser disallowed and went down 1-0 at Gillingham.

Craig Fleming looked to have earned a point for the Canaries when he nodded home Steen Nedergaard's free-kick at the back post, only to see the assistant referee flag for a foul by the Norwich defender.

"The referee gave the goal and we have tried to find out from the linesman and get some sense from him what he disallowed it for," Worthington said. Rod Wallace hit the Gills' winner with 15 minutes to go.
