FA cup draw: Arsenal visit West Ham in elusive trophy quest

Arsenal, without a trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 2005, must travel to West Ham in the third round of this season's competition, one of the three all-Premier League ties produced by yesterday's draw. The others see Aston Villa entertain Blackburn Rovers and Wigan take on Hull City.

Chelsea, the holders, host Championship side Watford, whom they beat 3-1 at Vicarage Road in the fifth round last season, on the back of Nicolas Anelka's hat-trick. Tottenham have been given a fairly straightforward home game against the Championship's bottom side Peterborough, while Liverpool will be seeking revenge for their last visit to the Madejski Stadium – a 3-1 defeat in December 2007 – when they go to Reading.

Big-spending Manchester City will also be looking to banish some bad memories at Middlesbrough, the scene of their 8-1 defeat in Sven Goran Eriksson's last game in charge back in May 2008. Elsewhere, non-league York go to Premier League Stoke, Eriksson's latest side, Notts County, face potential embarrassment against Forest Green Rovers and Everton, last year's beaten finalists, are at home to Carlisle.
