Valencia president Vicente Soriano has dismissed reports suggesting that Real Madrid are lining up a mega-bid for David Villa, David Silva, Juan Mata and Raul Albiol.

Florentino Perez is expected to test the resolve of Los Che if he regains control at the Bernabeu this summer, with 120 million euros earmarked for the Valencia quartet.

However, Soriano dismissed such rumours, saying: "I think it's the umpteenth time that this sort of thing has happened. The news is totally false and very much doubt that at any moment it'll be true."

Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez is hoping to be given the chance to continue in charge at the Sanchez Pizjuan next season.

Jimenez took charge at the club in October 2007, but is out of contract this summer, having guided Sevilla to third place in La Liga this season.

"I have completed our objective and now I hope that president Jose Maria Del Nido makes his decision," he said after the 1-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna: "I had options to move to another club, but I love Sevilla and stayed here.

"I am free on June 30. I do not know if I will renew or not, but my heart will always remain here. My first priority is Sevilla, my second is Sevilla and my third is Sevilla. I can renew or go in five minutes. I am a member of the club and I will be until I die."

Elsewhere, Numancia coach Jose Rojo Martin 'Pacheta' cut a forlorn figure after seeing his side relegated by a 1-0 defeat at Getafe.

The Reds drop back to the Segunda Division after just one season in the top-flight, with Pacheta upset by his side's struggles.

"We feel terrible," he explained. "But I have to say that I am proud of all the staff and everything we have done. In spite of this relegation, this is a great club with spectacular fans. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

"It is a very tough blow, but we must already think towards next season's campaign."
