A classy move from PSV Eindhoven fans.

The Dutch side's supporters will hold a banner tonight wishing Luke Shaw good luck in his recovery from a serious leg injury when they play Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It was in the match between the two teams back in September when Shaw broke his leg after a tackle from PSV defender Hector Moreno. PSV won that game 2-1 at home.

Shaw is expected to be sidelined for another four months at least with the injury, and it is touch and go whether he will play at the European championships for England next summer.

United manager Louis van Gaal gave an update into Shaw's status yesterday, as he continues his rehabilitation.

"He is a little bit fed up with the daily routine so I gave him four days off," Van Gaal said.

"I thought why he is fed up. Maybe it is because of the PSV match and that every player has to watch the game from the stadium to support their colleagues. I don’t think (Shaw will be at Old Trafford) but I don’t know. Maybe he’ll surprise me. You can always surprise me."

Van Gaal added that he did not need to warn his players against revenge on Moreno - "I don’t think that will be an issue. It was not his purpose. In football, it can happen"’ - and provided an injury update on Shaw’s recuperation.

He said the 20-year-old was responding well, but added: "You have to be very cautious with an injury like that.

"On Friday he has a scan and we’ll know then more about how the injury is going. He is a big loss."
