Wolves, having failed to persuade Tottenham to part with Ruel Fox on loan, have offered Reading pounds 100,000 for their winger Michael Gilkes.

West Bromwich Albion have told Stoke City that their pounds 400,000 offer for the defender Paul Raven falls pounds 350,000 short of their valuation.

The Sheffield United midfielder Mark Patterson is due to sign for Southend today for pounds 200,000.

Shrewsbury have accepted an offer of pounds 100,000 from Plymouth Argyle for their top scorer, Ian Stevens.

Leeds United will play a friendly match against DC United, US Major League Soccer champions, at RFK stadium on 16 May, the Washington-based club said yesterday.
